Yesterday I made cookies for Jenna and Max because they've each been having a rough month.
Also, I got new baking equipment that I wanted to try out!
I am in love with my COMPLETE SET of measuring cups!! For the past three years I've had random pieces of different sets, and not even all of the sizes.
I made Special K cookies! I've been using this recipe for about 3 years. I got it here.
Here's what you need:
1 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup butter
2/3 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 egg
3 cups Special K cereal
Combine flour, baking soda and salt and set aside.
Beat butter, sugar and vanilla until fluffy. Add egg. Stir in dry ingredients and 1 cup Special K. Except I stirred wet into dry because I accidentally did the dry in a larger bowl before I thought about doing the wet in there. I should also point out that this part is easier with a mixer. That way it actually becomes fluffy. We have one, but I have no idea how to use it. So I cream my butter and sugar by hand!
Coat teaspoons of dough with remaining Special K.
I used one of these little mini scoopy things so they were all the same size.
Place on ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 375 for 10 minutes or until lightly browned.
They will look something like this!
Lovely and very cute and tasty.

real vodka (NOT KAMCHATKA)
On Thursday before going out for ktz's birthday, Jenna and I made bloody marys.
We went to the scary liquor store on 4th and 5th and bought real vodka. Meaning not Kamchatka, Colonial Club, or Stoli. Except we got the pepper kind. PEPPAR, excuse me.
Yum. Max says that when you take shots of this and chase them with Diet Pepsi, it tastes like swallowing bugs.
So here is what we used: Tomato juice, Absolut Peppar, W sauce, Sriracha (because we didn't have tabasco), a squeeze of lemon, salt & pepper (in the pretty little bird shakers!!), and then for a garnish we copied Bodega and used pickles and olives except we chose really shitty ones. So if you do this, get Claussen pickles (the refrigerated kind) and nice olives that maybe aren't from Aldi.
Bloody Marys are gross because they are a bunch of foody stuff mixed with alcohol, but delicious.
And I'm stealing this because it's cute:
Happy birthday again Katie!!!!

Oh, also
Let's be a fashion blog for poor people.
jeans: f21, boots: payless, flannel: miley cyrus/max azria for walmart, cardigan: american eagle, bag: thrifted
I'm really into pairing purple and that mustardy yellow lately. And wearing boots. I'm not obscuring my face on purpose. However, you'll notice I did make a big mistake today called styling my hair curly. And sorry about the boxes and suitcases behind me; clearly, a month and a half isn't a long enough amount of time to be living somewhere and completely unpacked.

sorry
But you've missed some domestic activity in the past couple of days. After realizing we had forgotten to add sugar to our first pumpkin pie (shut up), we felt like domestic fuck-ups. However, on Friday I re-made the pumpkin pie using a recipe that uses regular milk instead of condensed because we are too lazy to go to Kroger every day. This one turned out rather deliciously. I used brown sugar, so it has a weird color not unlike poopy raisin meal in a crust:
The recipe came from our Pumpkin Masters "classic" pumpkin carving kit:
1 cup canned pumpkin
2 eggs
2/3 cup milk
2/3 cup sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1 T pumpkin pie spice (or ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon, & cloves)
I used a refrigerated, ready-made pie crust from Aldi. Put it in a 9-inch pie pan, trim & flute the edges. Mix all the pumpkin & spices & such together, pour it into the crust, and bake at 375 for 50 mins. I would recommend putting foil around the edges about halfway through so as not to let the crust brown too much...we didn't have any and cut it pretty close on the almost-burnt crust.
Afterward, we drank a lot of booze with Katryn and then proceeded to each eat 4 pieces of pizza. And then drink more. Until 5 AM.
Last night Jenna made soup, but didn't eat any of it.
It's butternut squash soup. A good idea in theory, but it's chunky because we don't have a blender. Donations are welcome.
This morning, she made a pepperoni roll to take to some party she's going to tonight. Fancy-schmancy, yes?
Today I have been applying to jobs all day. I have my daily probably-not-leaving-the-house uniform on, which means leggings and an aa deep v. I also have my job application supplies at hand.
Coffee, water (in a stemless wine glass because we are alcoholics and only have wine glasses), and my phone. And a pencil. And my little skulls notebook because it's so pretty and I use it to keep track of all of my fruitless job searching because it's very important for one to be reminded daily of one's apparent professional shortcomings and inability to get hired anywhere doing anything.
HOWEVER I AM NOT BITTER. I'm learning to sew in the meantime and hopefully starting my literacy volunteering next weekend!

i'm like a stay-at-home mom
Today while Jenna was at work I started decorating for Halloween. Too bad all we have to decorate with are lights. Also, I'm terrible at decorating. As you can see by the shittily draped pumpkin lights along the kitchen cabinets.
Those pumpkin lights will inevitably piss me off when I'm trying to cook. And I kind of want to leave the skull lights up all year. I still have a string of purple lights and a string of orange lights to use. What should I do with them?!
